Google has opened applications for 10th Google for Startups Accelerator Africa Cohort.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Google has announced the opening of applications for the 10th cohort of the Google for Startups Accelerator Africa, marking a major milestone in nearly a decade of support for Africa’s growing technology ecosystem.

The anniversary edition of the programme underscores Google’s continued commitment to accelerating artificial intelligence–driven scientific and technological innovation across the continent.

The 12-week hybrid programme, themed “AI First,” is targeted at Series A startups based in Africa or building Africa-focused solutions using artificial intelligence and machine learning. Selected startups will gain access to Google’s AI expertise and technical resources, mentorship from experienced AI professionals, and networking opportunities within the global tech ecosystem.

Commenting on the initiative, the Head of Startup Ecosystem, Africa, Folarin Aiyegbusi, said the continent is witnessing a growing shift toward deep-tech innovation.

“Africa’s tech landscape is seeing a vibrant shift toward deep-tech innovation. For Class 10, we are focusing on the potential of AI to drive health and societal benefits, providing the infrastructure and expertise to turn these startups into the research labs of the continent,” he said.

Since its launch in 2018, the Google for Startups Accelerator Africa programme has supported more than 180 startups across 17 African countries. Collectively, these startups have raised over $350 million in funding and created more than 3,700 direct jobs across the region.

Applications for the 10th cohort opened on February 5, 2026, and will close on March 18, 2026. The programme is scheduled to commence in April 2026 and will run for 12 weeks in a hybrid format.
