Fresh Shock for Nigerians as NNPCL Raises Petrol Price Again, Second Hike in One Week

NNPCL has raised petrol price again to ₦955 per Lltre, second hike in one week.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has once again increased the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), popularly known as petrol the second price adjustment in less than a week, further worsening the burden on motorists and households already grappling with rising living costs.

Findings by NewsOnline Nigeria revealed that NNPCL retail outlets across Abuja, including those in Gwarimpa, Wuse Zones 4 and 6, and along the Kubwa Expressway, have adjusted their prices from ₦905 to ₦955 per litre — an increase of ₦50 or about 5.5 percent.

The latest price hike has also been mirrored by other filling stations such as Ranoil, AA Rano, and Mobil, which now sell petrol between ₦920 and ₦930 per litre.

Confirming the development, the National President of the Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Owners Association of Nigeria (PETROAN), Billy Gillis-Harry, said the increment at NNPCL retail outlets had taken effect nationwide but did not disclose any official reason for the fresh adjustment.

Meanwhile, MRS stations were still dispensing fuel at ₦851 per litre as of Saturday. However, several retail outlets linked to the Dangote Refinery fuel distribution network have reportedly run dry since Sunday, raising fresh supply concerns.

The latest increase comes just days after the NNPCL raised petrol prices to ₦905 per litre in Abuja — a move that triggered public outrage and fears of another inflationary spiral.

The persistent price hikes have further eroded purchasing power, worsened transport fares, and deepened frustration among Nigerians already struggling under harsh economic conditions.
