GTCO has launched “Take on Squad” Hackathon 3.0 and opened applications for Nigerian Tech Innovators.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Guaranty Trust Holding Company Plc (GTCO) has announced the launch of the “Take on Squad” Hackathon 3.0, reinforcing its commitment to promoting innovation, empowering technology talent, and supporting the development of solutions that address real-world challenges across Africa.

The hackathon, now in its third edition, will bring together developers, designers, and entrepreneurs from across Nigeria to collaborate on building practical technology solutions across sectors such as financial services, healthcare, commerce, and digital inclusion.

Organised by HabariPay Ltd, the fintech subsidiary of GTCO, this year’s event will run under the theme “Smart Systems: The Intelligent Economy.” Participants are expected to design intelligent, data-driven solutions that transform how communities interact with and manage money.

Speaking on the initiative, the Managing Director of HabariPay, Eduophon Japhet, said innovation is critical to the future of economic growth and digital transformation.

“Today’s dynamic, digitally driven world demands continuous innovation, which is shaping how economies grow, how businesses scale, and how societies evolve,” Japhet said.

He added that the hackathon is designed to nurture ideas and talents capable of shaping the future, while ensuring innovative concepts are translated into scalable solutions that deliver measurable impact.

According to him, the initiative reflects GTCO’s broader vision of serving as a financial services platform that connects capital, capability, and creativity to drive sustainable progress.

Competing teams will utilise advanced APIs from Squad to build scalable digital tools aimed at solving everyday challenges faced by businesses and individuals.

The social coding event has become a key component of HabariPay’s mission to encourage creativity, innovation, and problem-solving among emerging technology talents in Nigeria.

Through initiatives such as the “Take on Squad” Hackathon, GTCO continues to position itself at the intersection of finance, technology, and enterprise, contributing to the growth of digital transformation across Africa.

HabariPay Ltd is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and provides a range of digital financial solutions including payment tools, e-commerce platforms, value-added services, and switching infrastructure designed to support businesses in the evolving digital economy.

Its innovations have also received international recognition, including the Innovative Mobile Payment Solution Award from Mastercard at the 2022 Technology Innovation Awards for its SquadPOS payment solution.
