Datti Baba-Ahmed Rejects ADC Opposition Alliance, Reaffirms Loyalty to Peter Obi for 2027

When asked if he would accept another vice-presidential nomination, Baba-Ahmed said he was open to it but stressed that his decision would depend on the survival of Nigeria’s electoral system.

Datti Baba-Ahmed has rejected ADC Opposition Alliance and reaffirmed his loyalty to Peter Obi for 2027.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the 2023 Labour Party (LP) vice-presidential candidate, Datti Baba-Ahmed, has dismissed the newly formed opposition coalition spearheaded by the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing it as a deceptive move aimed at misleading Nigerians.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday, Baba-Ahmed accused the coalition of making false promises about rescuing Nigeria from underdevelopment.

“They are deceiving us,” he declared.

Baba-Ahmed, who contested the 2023 presidential election alongside former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi, reiterated his unwavering loyalty to Obi and expressed readiness to serve again as his running mate in the 2027 general elections.

“I’m in the Labour Party. I’m a Peter Obi man. I still want Peter Obi to come back to the Labour Party and contest the 2027 election,” he said.

The former senator also cautioned Obi against aligning with leaders in the ADC coalition, which includes prominent figures such as Atiku Abubakar, David Mark, Nasir el-Rufai, Rotimi Amaechi, and Rauf Aregbesola.

When asked if he would accept another vice-presidential nomination, Baba-Ahmed said he was open to it but stressed that his decision would depend on the survival of Nigeria’s electoral system.

“If Nigeria is still around and there is an electoral system to follow. My love for Nigeria is undying, and I would appropriately associate with groups and individuals that are like-minded to restore Nigeria,” he added.

Baba-Ahmed further noted that there were only two individuals he would consider deputising, one of whom is Peter Obi.

“The first one has not said anything. The second one is Peter Obi. I’m always with Peter Obi until he decides not to,” he affirmed.
