Dangote has slammed NMDPRA CEO Farouk Ahmed over alleged $5m school fees in Switzerland.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that business mogul Aliko Dangote has accused the Chief Executive of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Farouk Ahmed, of living beyond his legitimate income and called for an investigation into his finances.

Dangote made the allegation on Sunday while addressing journalists, reigniting a public feud between both men. He claimed that Ahmed spends as much as $5 million on school fees for each of his children in Switzerland, an amount he said is inconsistent with the regulator’s known earnings.

According to Dangote, even individuals with substantial wealth would ordinarily attract scrutiny for such levels of spending.

“Mallam Farouk has four children he educated in Switzerland at a cost of about $5 million for their secondary school education alone, not university,” Dangote said.

“When you look at his income, it does not align with paying this kind of fees. Even if it were me paying $5 million over six years for my children, the tax authorities would need to examine my income and tax records,” he added.

Dangote further contrasted the alleged expenditure with the financial realities in Ahmed’s home state, noting that many families struggle to pay modest school fees.

“From Sokoto, where he comes from, people are struggling to pay N100,000 as school fees. Many children are out of school because their parents cannot afford that amount,” he said.

As of the time of filing this report, Ahmed has not responded publicly to the allegations or issued any statement addressing Dangote’s claims.
