CAC has suspended company registration portal over cyberattack.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Corporate Affairs Commission has announced a temporary suspension of its company registration portal following a cyberattack that affected millions of data points.

The Commission disclosed the development in a statement posted on its official X account on Wednesday, noting that the portal will be unavailable for three days from April 17 to April 20, 2026.

According to the CAC, the shutdown is part of efforts to carry out critical maintenance and strengthen system security after the breach.

“To serve you better, we will be carrying out scheduled maintenance on our portal this weekend, from 12:00 midnight today, 17th April 2026, to 6:00 a.m. on Monday, 20th April 2026. During this period, the portal may be temporarily unavailable,” the statement read.

The Commission added that it is working closely with the National Information Technology Development Agency to mitigate the impact of the incident and reinforce its digital infrastructure.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Data Protection Commission has launched an investigation into the data breach to assess its scope and ensure compliance with data protection regulations.

The incident raises fresh concerns about cybersecurity risks within Nigeria’s digital public infrastructure, particularly as more government services migrate online.
