BREAKING: Peter Obi Defeats Bola Tinubu At His Local Government (See INEC Results)

Labour Party Presidential Peter Obi scored 30,004 votes while APC Presidential Candidate Tinubu pulled 21,276.

Peter Obi defeated Bola Tinubu at his local government in Lagos State.

 

NewsOnline reports that the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the ongoing 2023 general elections, Peter Obi, has won the Ikeja local government area in Lagos State, the local council of Bola Tinubu, the Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nigeria’s ruling party.

 

This online news platform understands that Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos State, Nigeria’s commercial city, voted at Polling Unit 85, Ward 3 in Ikeja local government on Saturday, February 25, 2023.

Peter Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, southeast Nigeria, won the council area when the results were announced at the Lagos collation centre, INEC Yaba Secretariat on Sunday.

 

Newsonline Nigeria reports that the Labour Party Presidential Peter Obi scored 30,004 votes while APC Presidential Candidate Tinubu pulled 21,276.

 

The collation of presidential results in Lagos centre commenced at about 6:00 p.m. and eight local government results had been announced while 12 local government results are awaited.

 

This online newspaper reports that Tinubu won at Epe, Lagos Mainland, Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos Island, Agege, Badagry and Ikorodu, while Peter Obi won Ikeja, Kosofe and Eti-Osa LGA so far.

Meanwhile, Newsonline Nigeria reports that the death of the PDP Collation Agent is coming at a time the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) commenced the announcement of the 2023 Election Results at the INEC Collation Centre in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

 

Nigerians voted from a list of eighteen (18) Presidential candidates and four thousand, two hundred and twenty-three (4,223) National Assembly candidates, who are contesting for four hundred and sixty-nine (469) federal legislative positions.

 

No fewer than eighteen (18) political parties are participating in the 2023 general elections, however, some would not be fielding candidates for the position of president. This is less than the 91 political parties that participated in the 2019 general elections.

 

According to the figures recently released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), there are currently 93,469,008 Registered Voters but 87,209,007 voters out of the 93,469,008 registered voters have collected their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) and would be expected to vote in the 2023 general elections compared to  84,004,084 in the 2019 general elections.

 

The main contenders in terms of political parties are the All Progressives Congress, APC, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, the Labour Party, LP, and of course, the New Nigerian Peoples Party, NNPP.
