PDP has suspended National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu after Wike’s call for his sanction over anti-party activities.
NewsOnline reports that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suspended Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, its national chairman.
This online newspaper understands that the party’s Ward Executive in the Igyorov Ward of the Gboko Local Government Area, or LGA, of the state of Benue, implemented Dr. Ayu’s suspension.

Dr. Ayu was suspended by the Executive for alleged anti-party activities, according to the Ward Secretary Mr. Vangeryina Dooyum, who spoke to the media on Sunday on behalf of Kashi Philip, the Ward Chairman.
The National Chairman was suspended after the leadership examined his behavior following the recently finished general elections, according to a text read by the Secretary that was signed by 12 of the 17 members of the Ward Executive.
Flanked by the Chairman and other members, the Secretary said, “we observed with utmost dismay that, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu who is the National Chairman of the PDP worked against the success of the party in Igyorov Council Ward.
“It is on record that, he has also failed to pay his Annual Subscription Fees as provided under Section 8 (9) of the constitution of the PDP 2017 (As Amended).
“Further investigation also revealed that, he did not vote during the Governorship and State Assembly Elections held on March 18, 2023.
“It was also discovered that, most of his closest allies worked for the opposition party, the All Progressive Congress, APC, and hence, the abysmal performance of the PDP in Igyorov Ward.
“In view of the foregoing, we hereby pass a Vote of No Confidence on Dr. Iyorchia Ayu and suspend him as a member of our party with immediate effect. The suspension takes effect from March 24, 2023.”
Meanwhile, NewsOnline Nigeria reports that this is coming few days after Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State said the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu should be suspended from the party.
This online newspaper understands that Wike spoke in response to the suspension of former governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State, former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Anyim Pius, and recommending Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State to face disciplinary committee.
However, Wike said Ayu should face disciplinary committee for anti-party activities.
The governor spoke while addressing journalists in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Wike said Ayu lost his polling unit and ward due to his fraudulent activities.
According to Wike: “If there is any person deserving suspension it should be you (Ayu), who played anti-party by refusing to obey the constitution of the party on the zoning of political offices as is required. So, whoever tells you can suspend people, please tell the person that he is not serious.
“if you are talking of anti-party, it is you who could not even deliver your unit, deliver your ward that is involved. Because of the fraudulent activities you are involved in, people have lost hope in you.”
