PDP has gotten a new legally recognized leadership in Rivers State.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that police operatives have taken over the premises of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in Rivers State.

This came as the new leadership of the party in the state moved to take over the office of the PDP in the state.

This is a sequel to the interlocutory injunction of a State High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, which restrained the chairman of the party, Aaron Chukwuemeka, and other members of his executive from acting as excos of the party.

However, the party faithful in the state loyal to the governor of the state, Sir Siminialayi Fubara, on Wednesday, held a quick congress and appointed a caretaker committee team for the party.

It was gathered that Hon. Nname Robinson Ewor had, in the meeting of top stakeholders of PDP in the state, emerged as the acting chairman of the party.

Ewor, who is also the Chairman of the Governing Council of Captain Elechi Amadi Polytechnic and the Rivers West Senatorial Vice Chairman of the PDP, will pilot the affairs of the party alongside other newly appointed executives till valid congresses are conducted.

The stakeholders had tasked the new executives to bring stability and leadership to the party, which has been plagued by internal conflicts and power plays.

The news new leadership had upon inauguration on Wednesday vowed to take over the party office in the state.

But, Thursday afternoon, police mobilised heavily at the premises of the party on the Aba-Port Harcourt expressway.

It was gathered that the police, following the information that there might be a clash at the facility, deployed men in over four vans to the facility, preventing all access to the party office.

At press time, it was gathered the new leadership had chosen a new ground to interface with the members of the party pending when they will have full access to the state office.
