Kwankwaso has declared his support for Tinubu’s retention of VP Shettima for 2027 election.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Musa Illiyasu Kwankwaso, has said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s decision to retain Vice President Kashim Shettima as his running mate for the 2027 presidential election has boosted the ruling party’s popularity across Northern Nigeria.

Kwankwaso, who is also the Director of Finance at the Hadejia Jama’are River Basin Development Authority, made the assertion in a statement he personally signed on Saturday.

According to him, the submission of the Tinubu-Shettima nomination forms to the APC National Working Committee (NWC) in Abuja has further united party members and supporters in the North while dashing the expectations of those who had anticipated a change in the vice-presidential slot.

“President Tinubu’s decision to retain Vice President Kashim Shettima is the best development for the North and the APC. It has further united the region and strengthened the party’s chances ahead of the 2027 elections,” Kwankwaso said.

The APC stalwart commended Shettima for what he described as his commitment to promoting unity in Northern Nigeria despite attempts by some individuals to create division within the region.

He also praised the Vice President’s representation of President Tinubu at various international engagements, describing his performance as commendable and beneficial to the administration.

“We have seen how Vice President Kashim Shettima has worked tirelessly to promote unity in the North despite attempts by some individuals to create division. He has also represented President Tinubu creditably at various international engagements,” he added.

Kwankwaso expressed optimism that the Tinubu-Shettima ticket would enjoy overwhelming support from Northern voters in the 2027 general election.

He further argued that retaining Shettima would not only improve the APC’s chances of retaining the presidency but also strengthen the electoral prospects of the party’s governorship, National Assembly and other candidates across the region.

“Retaining Shettima is a strategic decision that will further consolidate the APC’s support base in the North and enhance the party’s electoral prospects at all levels,” he stated.
