BREAKING: Israel, Hamas Agree To Trump’s Gaza Peace Plan in Landmark Deal

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu welcomed the agreement, saying in a brief statement, “With God’s help, we will bring them all home,” referring to the remaining hostages still held in Gaza.

Israel and Hamas have agreed to Trump’s Gaza peace plan in a landmark deal.

In a major diplomatic breakthrough, NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Israel and Hamas have both agreed to the first phase of U.S. President Donald Trump’s Gaza peace plan, signaling what could be the beginning of the end of the nearly two-year war in Gaza.

Trump announced the development late Wednesday night on his Truth Social account, writing, “Israel and Hamas have both signed off on the first Phase of our Peace Plan. This means that ALL of the Hostages will be released very soon, and Israel will withdraw their Troops to an agreed upon line as the first steps toward a Strong, Durable, and Everlasting Peace.”

He described the moment as “a GREAT Day for the Arab and Muslim World, Israel, all surrounding Nations, and the United States of America,” while expressing gratitude to mediators from Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey for facilitating the agreement.

According to White House officials, the first phase of the deal will involve the release of all living Israeli hostages held by Hamas in exchange for an agreed number of Palestinian prisoners. Israeli troops will also withdraw to a pre-determined position inside Gaza, marking the initial implementation of the peace roadmap.

Trump, who has reportedly played a hands-on role in the negotiations, is considering traveling to the Middle East “as soon as this weekend” to reinforce the progress. White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt said the president will first stop at Walter Reed Medical Center in Washington for a scheduled check-up and troop meeting before possibly heading to Egypt.

The peace breakthrough follows several days of intense negotiations in Egypt’s Red Sea resort city of Sharm El-Sheikh, where U.S., Egyptian, and Qatari mediators worked tirelessly between the Israeli and Hamas delegations to finalize the details.

Tensions at the White House were said to be high just hours before the announcement when Secretary of State Marco Rubio reportedly handed the president a handwritten note during a domestic security event, alerting him that “a deal was very close.” Moments later, Trump hinted to reporters that he might soon be “going to Egypt” to consolidate what he described as “a historic peace.”

The agreement represents the most significant step forward in diplomatic efforts to halt the bloodshed and secure the release of hostages since the conflict erupted in October 2023. The war began when Hamas militants launched a large-scale assault on Israel, killing around 1,200 people and abducting 251 others.

In response, Israel began a military campaign in Gaza that has led to devastating humanitarian consequences. According to figures from the Hamas-run health ministry, at least 67,183 people have been killed since the war began, including over 20,000 children.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu welcomed the agreement, saying in a brief statement, “With God’s help, we will bring them all home,” referring to the remaining hostages still held in Gaza.

Diplomatic observers view the deal as a potential turning point not only for the region but also for global peace efforts. Analysts note that if successfully implemented, the plan could pave the way for long-term stability and open channels for broader regional cooperation.

Trump’s Gaza peace initiative marks the most significant diplomatic engagement between Israel and Hamas since the conflict began and could become one of his administration’s most defining foreign policy achievements ahead of the 2026 U.S. election season.
