NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the commencement of the third and final phase of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise nationwide.
In a statement issued by Mohammed Kudu Haruna, Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, the Commission disclosed that the exercise will resume on Monday, May 11, 2026, and run through Friday, July 10, 2026.
INEC explained that the second phase of the CVR was suspended on April 17, 2026, to allow for the clean-up of the voters’ register following the publication of claims and objections submitted by registrants.
According to the Commission, the final phase presents another opportunity for eligible Nigerians particularly those who have attained the age of 18 or missed earlier registration windows to enroll and obtain their voter records.
The electoral body also encouraged already registered voters who wish to transfer their registration, replace lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), or update their biodata to make use of its online portal or visit INEC offices at the state and local government levels across the country.
INEC further announced that the voters’ register will be displayed for public scrutiny between July 23 and July 29, 2026. The exercise is designed to allow citizens to submit claims and objections, helping to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and credibility of the register.
Reaffirming its readiness, the Commission assured Nigerians that all necessary arrangements have been put in place for a smooth and transparent process, urging eligible citizens to participate actively in strengthening the nation’s electoral system.
