FG has ordered immediate closure of 41 Unity Schools over rising student abductions.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Federal Government has ordered the immediate shutdown of 41 federal unity colleges across the country following a fresh wave of student abductions in several northern states.

The directive was announced on Friday in a statement signed by the Director of Senior Secondary Education, Hajiya Binta Abdulkadir, on behalf of the Minister of Education.

According to the statement, the closure is a proactive measure to prevent further security breaches in vulnerable schools.

Fresh Abductions Trigger Action

The decision comes just days after gunmen abducted students in Kebbi State. On Friday, scores more were kidnapped from a secondary school in Niger State, heightening nationwide concern over student safety.

The Ministry of Education says the closures will remain in effect until security stabilises in the affected regions.
