FCT Minister, Wike has named the sponsor of Rivers LG Election violence.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has attributed the post-election violence in the state to Governor Fubara’s actions.

The FCT minister revealed on Tuesday evening during a television interview.

Wike criticized the governor for allegedly dismissing the need for police involvement during the elections.

He argued that it is unacceptable for a governor to claim he doesn’t require police assistance to manage elections within his state.

He said: “Fubara is the cause of the mayhem that happened in Rivers state in the aftermath of the LGA elections. It’s not possible for a Governor to say he doesn’t need Police to handle an election in his State”

On the burning of three local government offices in Rivers State, he said:

“Obey court judgement, and allow the rule of law to prevail. If you don’t obey the law, you are bringing anarchy.

“I was a governor, I have always obeyed the rule of law. You heard the governor say that our state is turning into a state of anarchy where people do not obey the rule of law.

“You must obey the judgement of the court. You must not take the law into your own hands. The moment you don’t obey court judgement, you are inviting anarchy, you are inviting violence,” Wike said.

He also accused his successor Siminalayi Fubara of sponsoring the Action Peoples Party (APP) in the just-ended local government election in the oil-rich state.

“Today, people say ‘Discipline Wike, he did anti-party’. Today, what happened? The governor [Fubara] is the one who sponsored APP.

“The chairman of the [PDP] governors’ forum was the one who attended the swearing-in”, he said.

Wike also said he has no regret working against the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 presidential election.

“For presidential election, I said I am going to support equity, fairness and justice. In the other one, I am going to support my party and that is why we won the governor, National Assembly election.

“For presidential, I have no apologies because I don’t believe in injustice. Today people say ‘discipline Wike, he did anti-party.’ I did not do anti-party,” Wike said.
