Fayose has accused Makinde and Oyo Government of planning schoolchildren kidnap to undermine Tinubu administration.
NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, has stirred controversy after suggesting that the recent abduction of pupils and teachers in Oyo State may have been orchestrated to undermine President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Fayose made the claim on Monday during an interview on Channels Television, where he questioned the circumstances surrounding the kidnapping incident in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The former governor alleged that the timing of the abduction raised concerns about the possible involvement of the Oyo State Government, led by Governor Seyi Makinde, although he acknowledged that his suspicion could be wrong.

According to Fayose, the incident may have been used as a political tool to discredit President Tinubu, drawing parallels with how insecurity was allegedly used against former President Goodluck Jonathan during his administration.
“I have a strong belief, and I may be wrong, that this can sometimes be orchestrated,” Fayose said. “The governor of Oyo State had his party nominations going on in the face of this abduction, and no immediate action was taken. It was only after those activities that he visited the families.”
The former governor further alleged that the kidnapping could have been positioned to portray the Tinubu administration negatively, despite what he described as the President’s efforts to manage the challenges inherited from previous administrations.
Fayose praised Tinubu’s handling of national affairs since assuming office, arguing that the President has effectively managed the economic and security challenges left behind by the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
Recall that about 46 pupils and teachers were abducted by armed men on May 15, 2026, from schools located in the Ahoro-Esiele and Yawota communities of Oriire Local Government Area, Oyo State.
The incident has generated widespread concern across the country, with citizens, civil society groups, and public figures calling for urgent action to secure the release of the victims and improve security in affected communities.
Governor Makinde and the Oyo State Government have yet to respond publicly to Fayose’s allegations.
