Army Chief has arrived Maiduguri after Tinubu ordered the rescue of abducted Nigerians.
NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shuaibu, arrived in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, on Saturday, 48 hours after President Bola Tinubu directed security agencies to rescue all abducted persons and ensure that no terrorist or bandit camp remained anywhere in Nigeria.
Shuaibu arrived in Maiduguri at about 11 a.m. on Saturday.
Recall that on October 15 that the Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa, disclosed that Tinubu issued the directive to heads of security agencies during a security meeting presided over by the President at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
According to Musa, the President also directed service chiefs and other security heads to guarantee a safe environment for Nigerians to vote in the elections scheduled for January.
“The directive from the President is: all of us must go all out to fish out and rescue all those that have been abducted, kidnapped, wherever they are.

“There shouldn’t be any camp of any terrorists or bandits anywhere in Nigeria,” the minister said.
The Army chief arrived at the headquarters of the Northeast Joint Task Force, Operation Hadin Kai, at Maimalari Cantonment in Maiduguri.
Although it has not been established whether Shuaibu’s visit is directly connected to the President’s directive, sources indicated that he would meet with theatre, field and unit commanders across the state.
The visit comes amid renewed efforts to tackle insecurity, rescue abducted Nigerians and strengthen military operations against insurgents in the Northeast.
Further details on the purpose of the visit and the outcome of the planned meetings are awaited.
Details later.
