UK has opened 2025/2026 Chevening Scholarship Applications for Nigerians, see how to apply below.

 

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the United Kingdom has officially opened applications for the prestigious 2025/2026 Chevening Scholarship, offering fully funded one-year Master’s degrees at any UK university to exceptional individuals from around the world, including Nigeria.

According to the British High Commission, the application portal opened on August 5 and will remain open until October 7, 2025. Successful applicants will receive comprehensive financial support, covering tuition, travel, living costs, and additional grants for essential expenditures.

About the Chevening Scholarship

Funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), the Chevening Scholarship is designed to develop future global leaders. Since its inception in 1983, the programme has supported over 60,000 professionals worldwide, including hundreds of Nigerians across sectors such as governance, law, media, technology, and development.

Emma Hennessey, Head of the FCDO Scholarships Unit, emphasized the scholarship’s role in shaping visionary change-makers.

“Chevening’s highly competitive selection process ensures that those chosen represent the brightest and most driven individuals. Alumni use their UK experience to spark lasting impact in their communities and beyond.”

How to Apply for the Chevening Scholarship 2025/2026

Interested Nigerians can apply by visiting: asams.chevening.org/apply

Before starting, applicants should read the official application guidance at: chevening.org/guidance

Eligibility Requirements:

 

  • A strong academic record (at least a Second-Class Upper degree or equivalent)

  • Demonstrated leadership potential

  • A clear career plan and commitment to making a positive impact

  • At least two years of work experience

  • Must return to their home country for a minimum of two years after the award ends

Note: There is no restriction on field of study—applicants may pursue any course offered at UK universities.

Chevening Scholarship Benefits:

  • Monthly living allowance

  • Additional allowances for study materials, travel, and visa fees
