GTBank Customers can now use Google Pay for secure online payments.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that GTBank customers can now add their debit cards to Google Wallet to make online payments locally and internationally without repeatedly entering their card details.

Guaranty Trust Bank Limited (GTBank), the flagship banking subsidiary of Guaranty Trust Holding Company Plc (GTCO), has announced that customers can now add their debit cards to Google Wallet and use Google Pay for online payments.

The bank disclosed this on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, saying the integration is designed to make online payments faster, more convenient and secure for customers making transactions locally and internationally.

With the new service, GTBank customers can add their debit cards to Google Wallet and select Google Pay at checkout without having to repeatedly enter their card information.

The payment option can be used for a range of online transactions, including paying for subscriptions, booking flights and hotels, ordering food, purchasing goods and services, settling bills, renewing memberships and accessing digital services.

According to the bank, Google Pay is available across multiple countries and regions, providing customers with access to a widely accepted digital payment solution for online transactions.

GTBank said security remains central to the new payment experience, noting that Google Pay incorporates security features designed to help protect customers’ payment information during online transactions.

The bank added that the integration combines these safeguards with a simplified payment process, giving customers greater convenience when making online purchases.

Commenting on the launch, GTBank Managing Director, Mrs Miriam Olusanya, said the initiative responds to customers’ growing demand for simpler and more secure ways to pay online.

“Our customers are increasingly looking for simpler and more secure ways to pay online, both locally and internationally. By enabling customers add their GTBank debit cards to Google Wallet, we are making online payments more convenient and giving them access to a globally recognised digital payment solution. Customers can now complete online payments more seamlessly without repeatedly entering their card details,” Olusanya said.

She added that the introduction of Google Pay reflects the bank’s commitment to reducing friction in everyday banking and developing solutions that align with customers’ increasingly digital lifestyles.

“The launch reflects our commitment to removing friction from everyday banking and delivering solutions that fit seamlessly into our customers’ increasingly digital lifestyles. Google Pay offers our customers flexibility when making online payments while supporting a secure and seamless payment experience.

“As part of the Group, we remain committed to advancing our shared vision of leveraging technology to make end-to-end financial services more accessible and intuitive for everyone,” she said.

The introduction of Google Pay adds another option for GTBank customers seeking convenient ways to complete online transactions using their debit cards.

The development also highlights the growing role of digital wallets and payment technologies in simplifying online commerce, enabling consumers to make payments without manually entering their card details at every checkout.

GTBank said the initiative reinforces its commitment to making online payments simpler, faster and more convenient, while giving customers another way to pay for goods and services locally and internationally.
