Former Sports Minister Bolaji Abdullahi has replaced Mabel Oboh as ADC National Spokesperson ahead of 2027 elections.

In a strategic political shakeup, NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has appointed former Minister of Sports, Bolaji Abdullahi, as its interim National Publicity Secretary, replacing Mabel Oboh, a seasoned party stalwart praised for her impactful tenure.

According to a statement released by the party on Saturday, the move is part of a broader plan to reposition the ADC ahead of the 2027 general elections. Abdullahi’s appointment signals a shift toward more aggressive public engagement and digital outreach, as the party seeks to expand its national footprint.

Oboh, who previously served as the party’s Lagos State Publicity Secretary and was ADC’s 2020 governorship candidate in Edo State, was lauded for her “outstanding contributions.” Her leadership style and grassroots communication strategy significantly boosted the party’s visibility during her tenure.

She later took on the role of National Coordinator for the 2023 elections in Lagos, working alongside State Chairman George Ashiru and other stakeholders to enhance the party’s public image.

Abdullahi’s entrance marks a new chapter for the ADC. With a background in governance, youth development, and sports administration, the former minister is expected to modernize the party’s messaging and lead it into a more competitive space ahead of the next electoral cycle.

Having served as Minister of Sports from 2006 to 2007 and a former member of the House of Representatives for Agege Federal Constituency, Abdullahi brings deep political experience and media savvy that the party hopes will attract a wider audience.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the ADC’s latest move underscores its readiness to rebrand and compete more effectively as Nigeria heads toward the 2027 polls.
