President Tinubu has celebrated Zenith Bank Founder Jim Ovia at 75 and hailed his contributions to Nigeria’s economy.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Zenith Bank founder, Jim Ovia, on his 75th birthday, commending his contributions to Nigeria’s economic development and transformation of the country’s financial services sector.

The President described Ovia as a visionary entrepreneur, accomplished banker and distinguished business leader whose achievements have contributed significantly to the growth of Nigeria’s banking industry and private sector.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu praised Ovia’s entrepreneurial leadership, noting that his dedication and commitment to excellence helped build Zenith Bank into one of Nigeria’s leading financial institutions.

“Mr. Ovia’s dedication, resilience, and commitment to excellence have not only grown Zenith Bank into a banking behemoth but have also driven the growth of the Nigerian financial services sector,” the President said.

Tinubu particularly acknowledged Ovia’s pioneering role in establishing Zenith Bank in the 1990s and expanding it into a major financial institution with a presence across Africa and Europe.

He said Ovia’s entrepreneurial journey demonstrated the importance of innovation, discipline, sound corporate governance and long-term investment in national development.

The President also recognised the banking icon’s contributions to digital infrastructure, education, youth empowerment, philanthropy and human capital development.

According to Tinubu, Ovia’s initiatives in these areas have created opportunities for young Nigerians to develop their potential and contribute to national growth.

As the Zenith Bank founder marks his 75th birthday, Tinubu joined his family and friends in wishing him continued good health, renewed strength and many more years of productive service to Nigeria and humanity.
