Celebrities are rallying behind Peter Okoye after Jude Okoye’s ‘career going down’ remark.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that several Nigerian celebrities have thrown their support behind Peter Okoye (Mr P) following controversial comments by his elder brother and former manager, Jude Okoye, who suggested that the singer’s music career has declined since the breakup of the iconic music duo, P-Square.

Jude, while responding to allegations made by Peter, claimed that Paul Okoye (Rudeboy) has continued to enjoy career success, while Peter’s career has suffered since the brothers went their separate ways.

“Paul is going up there, you dey go down,” Jude reportedly told Peter.

The remark has since sparked widespread reactions on social media, with fans and celebrities condemning the statement and expressing solidarity with the singer.

Actress Evans Okoro, in a video shared on Instagram, urged Nigerians to support Peter by streaming his latest single.

“Nigerians, una know say we no dey use ear hear say person dey bully person or person wan make person go down,” she said.

“We heard that Peter P-Square’s career has been going down. We need to raise our brother. Nothing concerns us with the family problems, but we must carry our brother up. Go and stream his new song on YouTube. Please let’s help Peter P-Square.”

Reacting to the campaign, actress Destiny Etiko encouraged fans to increase streams of Peter’s latest track, “I Can’t Look Away.”

“The song is not there yet,” she wrote on Instagram while promoting the song on her page.

Social media influencer Eseoghene Obire, popularly known as Xxssive, also criticised Jude, describing his actions as a betrayal.

“Judas don dey get money problems right from the time of Jesus, and you people want him to change under this Tinubu regime?” he wrote.

He further stated that Jude was fortunate to have “a very calm junior brother,” suggesting the situation could have been handled differently by someone else.

Comedian and actor Deacon Famous also weighed in, arguing that the structure of P-Square’s management contributed to the brothers’ long-running dispute.

“Family is overrated. Family is your first battle. Those of you who come from a good family don’t know what God has done for them,” he said in a video shared on Instagram.

He questioned Jude’s reported management arrangement with the duo, alleging that the former manager took a larger share of the group’s earnings than the artists themselves.

According to Deacon Famous, Peter had previously acknowledged that another elder brother, Henry Okoye, would have been a more trustworthy manager.

Other celebrities who publicly expressed support for Peter include singer Auta Waziri, Cynthia Morgan, Radiogad, Oil Money, and actress Nkechi Blessing.

The renewed public support comes amid the long-running rift within the Okoye family.

Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P, previously accused his twin brother, Paul Okoye (Rudeboy), and their elder brother, Jude Okoye, of diverting music royalties, allegations that contributed to the permanent breakup of P-Square.

The family dispute escalated further after Jude Okoye was arrested and arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in February 2025 over alleged financial offences, a case that intensified the public fallout between the brothers.
