Ex-Delta Governor Ifeanyi Okowa was spotted at EFCC Lagos office amid N1.3 trillion probe.
NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Former Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, was reportedly seen at the Lagos Directorate 1 office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Ikoyi, fueling fresh interest in the ongoing investigation into alleged financial misconduct during his tenure.
A senior source within the anti-graft agency disclosed that Okowa’s visit may be connected to the commission’s investigation into allegations of abuse of office and the alleged diversion of public funds linked to his administration.

The former governor has been under EFCC investigation since leaving office over allegations involving approximately N1.3 trillion in 13 per cent derivation funds allocated to Delta State from the Federation Account between 2015 and 2023.
According to the source, Okowa visited the EFCC’s Lagos office on Awolowo Road, Ikoyi, to seek the release of his international passport to enable him travel abroad for what was described as urgent medical treatment.
However, it could not be immediately confirmed whether the anti-graft agency approved the request and released the travel document.
Okowa was initially arrested by the EFCC on November 4, 2024, and was subsequently interrogated at the commission’s Port Harcourt Zonal Directorate as part of investigations into the allegations.
The anti-corruption agency has yet to issue an official statement regarding the former governor’s latest visit or the status of his passport request.
Efforts to obtain comments from the EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, were unsuccessful as calls placed to his telephone line were not answered as of the time of filing this report.
The development comes as investigations into the alleged mismanagement and diversion of Delta State funds during Okowa’s administration continue.
More details are expected to emerge as the EFCC progresses with its inquiries into the matter.
