Adebayo Adelabu has resigned to pursue Oyo Governorship bid.
NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has resigned from his position to pursue his governorship ambition in Oyo State.
In a resignation letter dated April 22, 2026, and addressed to Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Adelabu stated that his exit will take effect from April 30, 2026, to allow for a smooth transition of duties.

“I write with a deep sense of honour and profound gratitude to formally tender my resignation as the Minister of Power of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he said.
He added that the delayed effective date was to ensure an orderly handover of responsibilities within the ministry.
The development follows earlier reports that Adelabu had secured the approval of President Tinubu to step down and contest in the forthcoming Oyo State governorship race.
