Arewa APC Lagos has suspended Chairman Sa’adu Dandare Gulma amid allegations of gross misconduct.
NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the leadership crisis rocking the Arewa Community wing of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has deepened as the group’s Leadership Council announced the immediate suspension of its chairman, Sa’adu Yusuf Dandare Gulma.
In a suspension notice dated April 7, 2026, the council said the decision followed consultations aimed at maintaining order, discipline and effective coordination within the Arewa APC structure in the state.
The letter, signed by Board of Trustees Secretary Shehu Usman Jibrin on behalf of the Lagos State Arewa APC Leadership Council, directed Gulma to immediately hand over all documents, properties and official assets belonging to the organisation to the council’s secretariat.

“The Lagos State Arewa APC Leadership Council hereby formally notifies you of your suspension from your position as Lagos State Arewa APC Chairman, with immediate effect,” the notice stated.
The council, however, acknowledged Gulma’s past contributions to the growth of the Arewa APC in Lagos, particularly in mobilisation and organisational development.
Follows Earlier Petition
The suspension comes barely a day after NewsOnline Nigeria exclusively reported that leaders and members of the Arewa APC in Lagos had filed a petition against Gulma, accusing him of gross misconduct, abuse of office, financial impropriety and violation of internal rules.
The petition, addressed to Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, also contained a vote of no confidence passed by 40 leaders and chairmen across the 57 local government areas of the Arewa APC in the state.
Petitioners alleged that Gulma’s leadership style had deepened divisions within the group and sidelined key stakeholders, while also raising concerns about alleged financial accountability issues and unilateral appointments within the state executive.
They further questioned his political associations, including alleged links with allies of former Attorney-General of the Federation Abubakar Malami, some of whom were said to be aligned with the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Authorities Notified
Copies of the suspension notice were sent to several stakeholders, including the Governor of Lagos State, the APC State Chairman, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, security agencies such as the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services (DSS), as well as traditional leaders including the Sarkin Hausawa and Sarkin Fulani of Lagos.
As of the time of filing this report, Gulma had not issued a public response to either the allegations contained in the earlier petition or the suspension notice.
The development signals a growing internal rift within the Arewa APC structure in Lagos, with stakeholders calling for leadership reforms to restore unity within the group ahead of future political activities in the state.
