Former governor of Ondo State, Olusegun Mimiko, has called on Governor Wike of Rivers State to save the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from sinking ahead of the 2023 general election.
Newsonline reports that Mimiko stated this in rivers State on Wednesday while commissioning a road project in PortHarcourt.
Mimiko appealed to Governor Wike to continue his mission of saving the unity of the party, which he had laboured so much to preserve its unity.
Speaking at the opening of the Azikiwe -Iloabuchi Road in Mile 2 Diobu in Port Harcourt constructed by Wike, Mimiko stated that the PDP has a role of saving the country from the far satisfactory performance of the past seven years of APC administration.
Mimiko said, “Your Excellency, our party, the PDP, a party for which you have laboured so much, seems saddled with the historical duty of forging this unity, a unity premised on truth, equity, and justice, a unity upon which rescuing Nigeria from the far from the satisfactory performance of the past seven years will be built.

“It’s a mission that must be accomplished. A mission for which you’re specially positioned and favoured to play a major role. A mission that must be subscribed to by all lovers of our country.”
Mimiko stated that Wike’s reformation of Rivers State in the past seven years and his commitment to good governance are needed in helping the PDP gain power come 2023 general election.
He added, “Beyond the self-evident physical transformation, you (Wike) have stood as a bulwark against those sworn to emasculate the main opposition party, all in their bid to force a one-party State down the throats of Nigerians.
“You were at one point virtually a one-man countervailing force, defending and protecting our dear PDP. You’ve also, through bold legal challenges, deepened the national consciousness on the defects in the running of our defective federal system.”
