Following the continuous parley between the governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike with All Progressive Congress (APC) governors, and Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, Kola Ologbondiyan, former national publicity secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said there is no issue if Wike joins Labour Party.
Newsonline reports that Ologbondiyan said the issue of defection PDP members to other parties was not something new, stating he was however sure they would come back.
Ologbondiyan who stated this while speaking on Arise TV Morning Show said Bukola Saraki, Atiku Abubakar and Aminu Tambuwal were examples of defectors who later found out that PDP was the right place.
Recall that Governor Wike sidelined the Peoples Democratic Party after the May presidential primary election.
On Tuesday the Rivers State governor held a closed-door meeting with Peter Obi and other governors.
Ologbondiyan said, “As far as I’m concerned, he is at liberty to associate with whosoever he wishes to associate with.

“He’s allowed. When Bukola Saraki left the APC and joined the PDP or when Aminu Tambuwal left the APC and joined the PDP, did it just happen? No, you go and consult. What I’m saying is this, no matter the consultation, no matter the discussions, until Governor Wike goes out and picks the membership card of the APC or he goes out to pick the membership card of the Labour Party, there are no issues as far as I am concerned.
“People can come and see him, they can come and hold parties, they can come and discuss, they can come and analyse. They can discuss all manner of things. He remains a member of the party.”
The former national publicity secretary of PDP said what was important, was that all must put measures to avoid the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) from returning back come 2023 election.
“What is important to us is that the burden that APC is must not come back,” he added.
