Peter Obi Mourns Labour Party Women Leader, Chintex, Killed In Kaduna

The presidential candidate of Labour Party, Peter Obi has warned against further attacks on supporters by mobs of the opposition parties.

Newsonline reports Peter Obi’s warning came following an attack on Mr. Joshua Alamu by suspected political thugs on Saturday during a sensitization that took place in some parts of Nasarawa State ahead of the 2023 presidential election.

The Labour Party presidential candidate reiterated that citizens’ right to express freely their political preferences must be respected and protected by security agencies for democracy to thrive.

The former governor of Anambra, Obi, also announced the postponement of his scheduled visit to South Africa for interaction with Nigerian diasporas in the country.

Obi said the postponement became necessary following political developments in the country requiring his personal presence. He assured visiting the country at a later date.

A statement released on Sunday read, “My pre-campaign Diaspora engagement schedule had included a visit to South Africa. Regrettably, the exigencies and demands of campaign, make it impossible for me to undertake a visit to South Africa in October as planned. However, I remain committed to visit at a later date.

“Any inconvenience caused to OBIdients in South Africa due to this change of plan is regretted.”
