Wike has planned 19 days of infrastructure commissioning to mark Tinubu’s 2nd anniversary.

In commemoration of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second year in office, the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), under the leadership of Minister Nyesom Wike, has scheduled a 19-day period dedicated to the commissioning of major infrastructure projects across the territory.

This decision was reached during the 14th Executive Committee meeting of the FCTA, chaired by Minister Wike.

According to a statement from the Minister’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, the commissioning will begin on June 10, 2025, and span 19 consecutive days.

Key projects slated for commissioning include the renovated Abuja International Conference Centre, Bus Terminals at Kugbo and Mabushi, and the Apo-Wassa Road. Other significant works are the N16 Interchange, roads connecting Maitama through Katampe to Jahi, the Inner Northern Expressway from Ring Road 3 (Idu to Kubwa Road), CN8 from N5 (Obafemi Awolowo Way) to the Court of Appeal, N20 Flyover Onnex Kubwa Road, and the Life Junction to Ring Road III corridor.

Additional roads scheduled for commissioning are the Kabulsa-Takushara and Kabusa-Ketti access roads, the Giri District access road, a 15-kilometer stretch from A2 Junction Abuja-Lokoja Road to Pai in Kwali Area Council, as well as the Ushafa, War College, and Army Checkpoint roads in Bwari Area Council.

Furthermore, the FCT Executive Committee approved the awarding of a contract to upgrade streetlights on the Nnamdi Azikiwe Expressway (Ring Road I). Mr. Richard Dauda, Acting Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), stated that the upgrade aims to replace obsolete streetlights installed over 15 years ago along the 14-kilometer, 10-lane expressway from Maitama to Gudu.

“The current streetlights no longer provide sufficient illumination, leaving many parts of the road in darkness at night,” Mr. Dauda explained. The new hybrid street lighting system will enhance visibility, safety, and motorability along this key route.

This extensive commissioning exercise reflects the FCTA’s ongoing commitment to infrastructure development and improved urban living in the Federal Capital Territory.
