The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, said Nigeria needs good leadership and good leaders and not aid from the European Union for development.
Newsonline reports that the former governor of Anambra called on European Union to help the country get good leaders, which according to him is what the country requires and not aid.
Peter Obi made the disclosure of his discussion with ambassadors from EU states while addressing the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) Standing Committee Meeting at St. Matthias house, Abuja, on Tuesday.
Peter Obi said “I spoke to European Union this morning (Tuesday), all the ambassadors.
“And I asked them, stopping giving us aids. We don’t need aids, We need leadership, help us to get leaders who can serve this country.

“We don’t require their aids. And I asked them a question. I asked the ambassador of the Netherlands, i said your country, minus border is only 33,000sqkm. And your export last year of agricultural products is $120 billion.
“Our state, Niger state, is 76.3000sqkm, three and half times the Netherlands. They can’t feed themselves, they cannot feed Nigeria. they are waiting to share $ 3 billion from Niger Delta every month.
The former governor of Anambra State called on the Bishops and Archbishops to lead the campaign for a good Nigeria by supporting the candidate with competency, character and track record.
Peter Obi told the clergy that the church cannot sit back and watch their children be at home for seven months as a result of strike by ASUU.
He challenged the clergy to get involved in the governance of the country for the good of the country.
