2026 WASSCE Results

WAEC has released 2026 WASSCE Results as 61.54% of candidates secured five credits including English and Mathematics.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially released the results of the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School Candidates, with 61.54 per cent of candidates obtaining at least five credits, including English Language and Mathematics.

The examination body announced the release in a post on its official X handle on Wednesday.

“UPDATE: 2026 WASSCE (SC) results have been released. Generate your PIN at http://waec.org and check your results now on http://waecdirect.org,” WAEC stated.

According to the council, 1,200,514 candidates out of the 1,950,726 who sat for the examination achieved credits and above in a minimum of five subjects, including the compulsory English Language and Mathematics.

The examination, conducted between April 21 and June 19, 2026, attracted nearly 1.96 million candidates from more than 24,200 secondary schools across Nigeria.

WAEC noted that while the majority of candidates sat for the examination using the traditional pen-and-paper format, a significantly higher number of schools adopted the Computer-Based Testing (CBT) option compared to previous years.

Candidates seeking to check their results are required to first generate a Personal Identification Number (PIN) and serial number on the WAEC website before accessing the result-checking portal.

The process involves providing the candidate’s examination number, the National Identification Number (NIN) used during registration, and contact details for One-Time Password (OTP) verification.

The release of the results comes about 45 days after the conclusion of the examination, in line with WAEC’s earlier timeline. It also follows the recent release of the results for the 2026 First Series Computer-Based WASSCE for Private Candidates.

Meanwhile, WAEC has also withheld 167,486 results over alleged examination malpractice, with investigations into the affected cases ongoing.
