Voters' Registration: Osun Declares Friday Work-Free For PVC

Osun State government has declared Friday, 24, June, a work-free day for the civil and public servants to ensure all workers go for PVC registration.

Newsonline reports that the Osun State government said workers cannot be denied the right to get their PVCs since the policies of the government affect them the most.

This is coming three weeks to the state gubernatorial election, amid tensions and voting apathy witnessed in the last Ekiti State election.

The Osun state government said it was important that all workers in the public and private sectors go and collect their Permanent Voters’ Card, to ensure they exercise their franchise in the July 16 governorship poll.

In a statement, on Thursday, signed by the Secretary to the Osun State Government, Prince Wole Oyebamiji, stated that the only way workers can give life to their aspiration for a work-friendly government is through their votes.

“The Government of Osun State acknowledges the importance of workers in the democratic process and is aware that the only way workers can give life to their aspiration for a worker-friendly government is through their votes.

“The government does not want anyone to miss out on the opportunity to exercise their constitutional right, especially as it affects their overall wellbeing and the security of their future, ” the statement read.
