1. The Nigeria Labour Congress on Sunday shunned a meeting called by the Federal Government to discuss the subsidy removal and the attendant hike in fuel pump prices across the country. The union insisted that it would not hold any dialogue with the government representatives unless a legitimate team was set up.

2. The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has called on President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima to take a cue from the late President Umaru Yar’ Adua by publicly declaring their assets as a demonstration of their determination to lead by example. The PDP stated this through its National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba on Sunday.

3. Oil marketers have projected that the ex-depot price of Premium Motor Spirit, popularly called petrol, would hit N515/litre once they source foreign exchange rate at the parallel market for the importation of PMS. Ex-depot price is the price marketers buy products at the depot and it determines the price at which they sell to motorists at filling stations.

4. The Senate has indicted the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation over failure to repay short-term loans given to Ministries, Departments, and Agencies from Special Funds Accounts totalling N910bn. The lawmakers discovered this after a thorough investigation by the Senate Public Accounts Committee chaired by Senator Mathew Urhoghide.

5. The 14 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Ohafia, on Sunday, raided a baby factory at Umunkpei Nvosi in Isiala-Ngwa Local Government Area of Abia State, allegedly operated by an indigene of the area. The troops on arrival at the facility rescued 22 ladies out of which 21 are pregnant, including 2 babies (a boy and a girl).

6. Ondo State Deputy Governor, Mr Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has denied the allegation that he was fond of beating up his wife, Mrs Oluwaseun. A group, under the auspices of the Society for Women Empowerment, alleged that Ayedatiwa had physically assaulted his wife twice in four months which, according to it, was against the ethics of his office. But the deputy governor, in a statement, said he had never raised his hand to hit his wife.

7. About 37 persons have been reportedly killed and several others injured in attacks on three communities in Tangaza local government area of Sokoto state. The communities include, Raka, Raka Dutse, and Filin Gawa. According to eyewitnesses, the bandits attacked the communities on Saturday evening.

8. The Trade Union Congress (TUC) on Sunday asked the Federal Government to revert to the old petrol pump price of N194 per litre while negotiations continue over the recent increase of between N488 and N557 per litre occasioned by the removal of subsidy.

9. Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has appealed to the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, to shelve its planned strike in protest against the fuel subsidy removal. He said ‘this is not the time to go on strike’. Governor Sanwo-Olu spoke after a post-inauguration thanksgiving service at the Cathedral Church of Christ.

10. A priest of the Nnewi Catholic Diocese, Rev Fr Stanislaus Mbamara, who was kidnapped on Friday evening by gunmen, has regained freedom. Chancellor of the diocese, Rev Fr Raphael Edeogu said the priest was released on Sunday after staying in captivity for two days.
