Senator Neda Imasuen has dumped Labour Party for APC.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the lawmaker representing Edo South Senatorial District, Senator Neda Imasuen, has formally defected from the Labour Party (LP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The announcement was made on Wednesday by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, who read the senator’s defection letter during plenary on the floor of the upper chamber.

In the letter, Imasuen said the decision to leave the Labour Party was taken after wide consultations with constituents, political stakeholders, and supporters across Edo South.

The letter reads, “I write to respectfully notify the distinguished Senate through the office of the Senate President of my resignation from the Labour Party (LP) and my decision to officially join the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“This decision follows extensive consultations with my constituents, political stakeholders, and supporters across Edo South who have expressed their desire to have me enter a party that will give our people national prominence and political relevance.”

Imasuen blamed his defection on irreconcilable internal crises and leadership challenges within the Labour Party, which he said had frustrated his ability to deliver on the mandate of governance.

“My defection is necessitated by irreconcilable internal crises and leadership challenges within the Labour Party which have hampered my capacity to effectively represent and deliver on the true mandate of governance to the good people of Edo South,” he said.

The senator added that his decision is aimed at aligning Edo South with the renewed hope agenda and development vision of the Tinubu-led administration.

Despite his defection, Imasuen pledged to remain committed to serving his constituents and upholding the democratic ideals of the Senate.

“I remain fully committed to the service of my constituents and the democratic ideals of this Senate,” he stated.

He requested that his defection letter be read publicly and documented in the records of the Red Chamber.
