President Trump has accused Democrats of attempts to shut down his government.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that President Donald Trump has accused United States lawmakers of the Democratic Party of attempting to shut down his administration as government funding expires on March 14.

However, President Trump in a Truth Social post on Wednesday said he is currently working with Republicans in the House of Representatives, led by Speaker Mike Johnson, on a resolution to fund the government until September this year.

According to him, the resolution would give his administration “some needed time to work on our Agenda”.

He wrote, “Government funding runs out next week, and Democrats are threatening to shut down the Government.

“But I am working with the GREAT House Republicans on a Continuing Resolution to fund the Government until September to give us some needed time to work on our Agenda”.

Recall that Speaker Mike Johnson had on Sunday declared his intention to pass a “clean” stopgap funding measure that will allow federal agencies to operate at the current level of spending until September this year.
