Igbo Presidency

President Tinubu’s Minister has given condition for Igbo Presidency.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Minister of Works and former Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi, has advised the people of the South East to rally behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in 2027 if they genuinely desire to produce a Nigerian president of Igbo extraction in the future.

Speaking in Abuja on Monday, Umahi said any expectation of an Igbo presidency by 2027 is “unrealistic”, emphasizing that the region must instead strategically align with Tinubu to achieve long-term political goals.

“Support Tinubu Now, Secure Igbo Presidency Tomorrow” – Umahi

Umahi urged political leaders and the broader Igbo community to avoid distractions and embrace unity, collaboration, and strategic alliance-building with other regions. He stressed that supporting Tinubu’s second term would help foster mutual trust and national integration, which are essential for any future Igbo presidential bid.

“Let’s not be carried away by sentiments. If we truly want an Igbo person to be president one day, we must show political maturity, build bridges, and support President Tinubu in 2027,” Umahi said.

Praise for Tinubu’s Inclusive Leadership

The Minister praised President Tinubu’s leadership style, describing it as fair and inclusive, noting that every region in the country, including the South East, has benefitted from his administration.

He added that the appointment of key Igbo figures into strategic federal positions shows Tinubu’s commitment to equity and balanced governance.

Call for Regional Unity and Support for Governors

Umahi also commended South East governors for their developmental strides and encouraged the people to support their re-election bids, asserting that unity within the region would further strengthen its bargaining power nationally.

He concluded by stating that working together today is the only credible path to realizing an Igbo presidency in the near future.
