NNPCL Boss Ojulari is currently facing scrutiny and have been reported to President Tinubu over alleged high-handedness.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that that a coalition of civil society organizations under the umbrella of the Patriotic Nigerian Youth Forum (PNYF) has raised concerns over the leadership style of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), calling for a thorough investigation and audit of the company’s activities under its current Chief Executive Officer, Bayo Bashir Ojulari.

In a strongly worded statement jointly signed by Comrade Olamide Odumosu and Comrade Haruna Gambari, Convener and Co-Convener of the coalition respectively, the group expressed disappointment over what it described as “high-handedness” and a lack of reform within the NNPCL since Ojulari assumed office.

The coalition, which comprises 52 civil society organizations, urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to take urgent action, noting that expectations for a new era of transparency and efficiency under the Renewed Hope Agenda have not materialized.

“We are deeply dismayed that NNPCL, both in practice and perception, continues to operate in ways that contradict the values and vision of the Renewed Hope Agenda,” the statement read. “There was widespread hope that the appointment of Mr. Bayo Bashir Ojulari would herald significant transformation, but sadly, that has not been the case.”

The group also criticized what it termed “unnecessary foreign trips” by the company’s leadership, arguing that such expenditures do not reflect the economic realities facing the country.

“It is on record that since assuming office on April 2, 2025, Mr. Bayo Bashir has yet to take any concrete steps to demonstrate a clear direction for productivity or reform within the NNPCL,” the coalition added.

The group concluded by reaffirming its commitment to demanding accountability and justice in the nation’s oil and gas sector.
