1. The National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party led by the acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, yesterday, reversed the suspension of the party’s chieftains, including a former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose and an ex-President of the Senate, Anyim Pius Anyim.

2. Reports emerged on Thursday, that the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre, had resigned his position as minister to pursue his ambition as governor of Bayelsa State, but senior officials of his ministry could not confirm this. Sylva had served as Governor of Bayelsa in the past, for one full term between 2008 and 2012. At the time, he was a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

3. The United States chapter of the All Progressives Congress on Thursday condemned the proposed political demonstration that would be held by some Nigerians in front of the White House on Monday. The condemnation is coming a day after authorities in the United States granted permission to supporters of Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, to use its park on April 3 to protest the outcome of the 2023 presidential election in Nigeria.

4. The Governor of Zamfara State, Bello Matawalle, has blamed his failure to secure a second term in office on his opposition to the naira redesign policy of the Central Bank of Nigeria. He fumed that more military personnel were deployed to Zamfara State during the elections than when bandits held the state by the jugular.

5. The Benue State Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, yesterday suspended the Igyorov Ward Exco of the party in Gboko Local Government Area of the state with immediate effect. Igyorov Ward Exco was responsible for the suspension of the party’s embattled National Chairman, Senator Iyorchia Ayu.

6. The Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, on Thursday, approved the immediate sack of all his political appointees. According to a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Chris Ezem, those affected are all Special Assistants, Senior Special Assistants, Special Advisers and Technical Officers.

7. The Debt Management Office (DMO) has revealed that Nigeria’s debt profile stood at N46.25 trillion as of December. In a statement on Thursday, DMO said there was an increase of over N7tr from what the country owned in 2021.

8. Aminu Masari, governor of Katsina State, has appealed to Nigerians to pray more for the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Masari, during a special breaking of fast and prayer session organised on Wednesday at the Government House in Katsina thanked the Almighty God for the success of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the general elections.

9. The Chairman of Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Alhaji Yabagi Sani, yesterday, urged the Department of State Services (DSS) to arrest those it claims are plotting an interim government. Sani stated this during an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today.

10. An Ekiti State High Court, Ado Ekiti, on Thursday, ordered that a 36-year-old woman, Janet Jegede, be kept in custody as a criminal lunatic for stabbing her husband, Kayode, to death. Jegede was arraigned before Justice Bamidele Omotoso on September 16, 2020, on one count bordering on murder.
