NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Lagos State Government has signed five new bills into law.

The first is the Human Organ and Tissue Transplantation Law which is a key measure against illegal organ harvesting.

It establishes strict regulations for organ transplants, banning unauthorized procedures and advertisements for organ sales.

Violators face penalties ranging from significant fines to prison sentences.

Other laws signed include the Consumer Protection Law, which bolsters consumer rights, ensuring businesses adhere to ethical practices.

It allows authorities to penalize violators and shut down operations endangering public safety.

The Fire and Rescue Service Law aims to enhance emergency response, while the Lagos Enforcement Training Institute Law focuses on professionalizing law enforcement.

Additionally, the Victims Assistance and Witness Protection Law strengthens support for crime victims and witnesses.
