Kwankwaso, Galadima, Like Obasanjo Are Also Campaigning For Me – Peter Obi

Mr Peter Obi, Labour Party presidential candidate disclosed on Wednesday that Rabiu Kwankwaso, and Galadima, like the former president, Obasanjo are also campaigning for his presidency.

Newsonline reports that Peter Obi while responding to the allegation that former president Obasanjo is campaigning for him said all people that talk about him also campaign for him.

Peter Obi stated that Kwankwaso and Galadima, the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, and NNPP chieftain Galadima also campaigned for him since they believed he is competent in economy management.

Peter Obi said while he may not know the reason why Obasanjo visited Ango Abdullahi and Hameed Ahmed-baba, the chairman of Northern Elders Forum and spokesman respectively, it was not wrong for the former president to campaign for the right person that can save the country’s economy from collapsing.

Peter Obi said, “They say I am only qualified to be a VP because I understand the economy and I will handle the economy. I say the economy is the most important issue in the next election so whoever understands the economy should rather be the President.”

Peter Obi stated that the statement of Kwankwaso that the North voters will not vote for him because he is from South-East shows the NNPP presidential candidate is using ethnicity and religion to divide the country.

He said, “Kwankwaso’s statement is the reason more than 100m Nigerians are in poverty. Don’t vote for Peter Obi because he is from the SS or SS. Don’t vote for me because I am from the SW or NW. Vote for me because I am a Nigerian.

“I visited the largest producer of rice in Kano and I’m supporting him financially and he is doing well. Let’s remove the issue of East and North or West.

Peter Obi also stated that paying a subsidy of $40 billion on petrol and borrowing $90 billion to service debt was a bad economic policy which is partly responsible for the naira fall.

“We cannot spend $40bn on subsidy and less than half on education & health – Peter Obi
Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, maintains that fuel subsidy in Nigeria is a scam and its implementation shambolic while emphasizing his resolve to remove subsidies.”

The former governor of Anambra also stated that his reason for going to Egypt was to study how they were able to solve power problems in their country.

He also disclosed that he is assembling his economic team to avoid giving excuses when elected.

“I am doing the groundwork today because I don’t want to be president tomorrow and start giving excuses because the job of the government isn’t to give excuses,” he said.

I am building a team of competent Nigerians. I want those who can look at me in the face & say; “Mr President, you are wrong.” I don’t know everything. So if you agree with me in 3 meetings, you go. That means u don’t have your own ideas.
