JAMB has exempted Education and Agriculture Candidates from UTME Requirement.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has announced that candidates seeking admission into Education programmes and Agriculture-related non-engineering courses will no longer be required to sit for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

JAMB disclosed the development on Monday through a post shared on its official X handle during its ongoing 2026 admissions policy meeting.

“Candidates seeking admissions into Education Programmes and Agriculture non-Engineering Courses are now exempted from UTME,” the board stated.

The latest announcement comes shortly after the Federal Government approved the removal of UTME as a requirement for admission into Colleges of Education across Nigeria.

Under the new policy, candidates seeking admission into Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) programmes will no longer be mandated to write the UTME before securing admission.

The move is part of ongoing efforts to encourage enrolment into teacher education and agriculture-related disciplines considered critical to national development.
