IWD2024: Lagos FRSC Celebrates 4th Women In Uniform Event In Grand Style

This year’s International Women’s Day was themed “Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress”

Lagos FRSC has celebrated the 4th edition of the women in uniform event at IWD 2024 in a grand style.

 

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Federal Road Safety Commission, Lagos Sector Command has commemorated 2024 United Nations International Women’s Day with the 4th Edition of Women In Uniform at NAFOWA Hall, AirForce Base Ikeja on Friday, 8th March 2024.

 

According to the National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP), this year’s International Women’s Day was themed “Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress”

The event had in attendance the FRSC Lagos Sector Commander, CC Babatunde Farinloye; Special Guest of Honor, Secretary to State Government, SSG, Lagos State, Barr. Bimbola Salu- Hundeyin ably represented by Mrs Titilayo Omorodion; representative of Managing Director of Anchor Insurance, Mr Adebukola; the Guest Speaker, Mrs Chinweugo Nwafor of Head Internal Audit and Control Transcorp Group; representatives from Guinness Nig Plc and Fan Milk Plc, and representatives from military and paramilitary organizations including Nigerian Army, Nigerian Air Force, Nigerian Police Force, Nigerian Custom Service, Nigerian Correctional Service, Nigerian Security and Civil Defense,Lagos State Traffic Management Authority and Vehicle Inspection Service.

 

 

The panellists that did justice to the theme of the program are:

– CEO Reb360/TV Host- Dr Tope Mark- Odigie
– Head of Human Resources Food Commercial Division Flour Mills of Nigeria- Coach Lara Yeku
– Executive Director Suntrust Oil and Gas; Mrs Rachael Akhuetie.
– Mrs Chinweugo Nwafor, Head Internal Audit and Control Transcorp Group.

 

The Sector Commander, CC Babatunde Farinloye in his welcome address lauded the distinguished guests and the officers from military and paramilitary organizations for honoring the event. He recognized the vital achievements and contributions of our great country’s inspirational women especially the ones in uniform who sacrifice their comforts, families and ultimately risking their lives in the line of duty to ensure the security and safety of the general citizens. He mentioned that giving priority to women is not an option but a necessity for manifestation of good economic sense.

 

The Guest Speaker, Mrs Chinweugo Nwafor applauded the women in uniform and explained how elated she feels whenever she notice a female officer performing her duties on the road. As the only female board member in her organization, she advised the women to be concerned of their progress at their workplace and strive hard to achieve their set goals with high self esteem. She added that women should be involved in different evolving skills like artificial intelligence, data analytics, and cyber security amongst others in order to be relevant and stand out.

 

During the panel session several questions on how women can accelerate their progress were asked, some of which include:
– Improving your confidence level
– Eloquent public speaking skills.
– The place of Hobbies and Interests in women
– How to Invest in Self to Accelerate Progress

 

The panellist did justice to the theme with practical illustrations.

 

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the SSG ably represented by Mrs Titilayo Omorodion gave the keynote address and she commended FRSC Lagos for the great initiative in Lagos State. She encouraged the Women in Uniform to continue their efforts in promoting safe and inclusive environment.

 

The event was brought to a close with a drama from E1st Productions. Vote of thanks was done by the Chairman Women In Uniform, DCC Emma Fekoya.
