IKEDC has published the full list of the areas enjoying 20-24 hours of electricity power supply in Lagos.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) recently approved an increase in electricity tariffs for customers falling under the Band A classification. This adjustment, announced by Vice Chairman Musliu Oseni, entails customers paying N225 per kilowatt-hour (KW/h), up from the current N66.

Band A customers are those fortunate to receive a consistent 20 to 24 hours of electricity supply daily, while Band B subscribers enjoy 16 to 20 hours. Moving down the scale, Band C beneficiaries receive 12 to 16 hours daily, Band D customers get eight to 12 hours, and Band E subscribers only receive four to eight hours of electricity consumption each day.

The increase in tariffs for Band A consumers, which represent approximately 15% of the nation’s 12 million electricity customers (equivalent to about 1.8 million subscribers), will not affect those in the other bands, Oseni assured during a press conference in Abuja.

According to sources cited by Bloomberg on Tuesday, power companies are now permitted to raise electricity prices to N200 ($0.15) per KW/h from the previous N68 for urban consumers. This move, reportedly aimed at attracting new investments and reducing the approximately $2.3 billion spent to cap tariffs, was confirmed by sources within the presidency.
