Hilda Baci has sets Guinness World Record for Largest Pot of Jollof Rice in Lagos.
NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Nigerian celebrity chef Hilda Baci has officially completed her much-anticipated Guinness World Record attempt for the largest pot of jollof rice, creating a historic culinary moment in the early hours of Saturday at Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The Akwa Ibom-born chef prepared the massive dish using 4,000 kilograms of basmati rice, 500 cartons of tomato concentrate, 750 kilograms of oil, and 600 kilograms of onions. The ingredients were cooked in a custom-built steel pot measuring six metres in diameter.

According to Baci, the original plan was to cook 250 bags of rice, but the number was later reduced to 200 bags to stay within the 20,000-kilogram weight limit of the measuring equipment.
Throughout the marathon cooking session, ten assistants dressed in red uniforms worked alongside Baci, stirring the giant pot with oversized wooden paddles, while DJs and live performances kept the festival crowd energized.
The event, tagged Gino World Jollof Festival, drew notable dignitaries including Ogun State First Lady, Bamidele Abiodun, and a host of celebrities such as Funke Akindele, Bambam, Tomike Adeoye, Alex Unusual, Enioluwa Adeoluwa, TikTok star Peller, and Afrobeats singer Spyro.
Applauding Baci’s resilience, actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele urged women to dream big and push boundaries.
“You can look beautiful, but you must hustle and do something special for yourself,” she told the cheering crowd.
On Friday, the Federal Government commended Baci’s record-breaking quest, with the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, describing it as another testament to Nigeria’s excellence on the global stage.
At an emotional moment during the event, Baci broke down in tears after scrolling through social media messages of support, moved by the overwhelming encouragement from Nigerians at home and abroad.
