Google has unveiled 15 AI-powered African Startups Selected for 2025 Accelerator Program.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Google has unveiled the 15 startups selected for the ninth cohort of its prestigious Google for Startups Accelerator: Africa program.

These cutting-edge ventures—spanning Ghana, Ethiopia, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, and South Africa—are harnessing the power of artificial intelligence (AI) to tackle real-world problems across sectors such as fintech, agritech, healthtech, logistics, and professional services.

The announcement highlights Google’s ongoing commitment to supporting African innovation, particularly as startups on the continent confront hurdles in accessing mentorship, capital, and technical expertise. The three-month accelerator, running from June 23 to August 22, 2025, aims to bridge those gaps by connecting founders with Google’s global network of experts, advanced AI tools, and up to $350,000 in Google Cloud credits.

“This program reflects our belief that AI is most impactful when developed by people who understand their local challenges,” said Folarin Aiyegbusi, Head of Startup Ecosystem, Africa at Google. “We’re proud to support founders building meaningful solutions and shaping an inclusive AI ecosystem across Africa.”

The 15 startups were selected from a highly competitive pool of nearly 1,500 applicants across the continent. This year’s class underscores Google’s strategic focus on AI-driven impact, aligning with its broader push to foster innovation that directly addresses Africa’s socioeconomic challenges.

Over the course of the program, startups will benefit from tailored mentorship with Google engineers and industry leaders, as well as support in product development, AI implementation, and go-to-market strategies. Participants will also gain access to a curated network of global investors, partners, and collaborators.

Since launching in 2018, the Google for Startups Accelerator: Africa has supported 153 startups across 17 countries, helping them raise more than $300 million in funding and create over 3,500 jobs. Google has committed over $5 million in equity-free funding and product support to date.
