Meanwhile, News Online earlier reported in June that President Muhammadu Buhari’s federal government through the Central Bank of Nigeria has condemned the rate at which Nigerians mutilate, deface, squeeze and even spray and sell the naira notes.

The apex bank, News Online understands, threatened that “abuse of the currency attracts a penalty not less than 6 months or a fine, not less than N50,000 or both.”
