Wanted Oil Mogul Bashir Haske

EFCC has frozen the bank accounts of wanted Oil Mogul Bashir Haske over alleged $56m fraud and ties with NNPC GCEO.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has frozen multiple bank accounts belonging to Nigerian businessman, Abdullahi Bashir Haske, amid mounting allegations of fraud and money laundering.

This Nigeria news platform gathered that Haske, founder of AA & R Investment Group, is accused of diverting funds through suspicious financial flows, bulk cash transfers, and questionable contracts linked to NNPC EnServe Ltd., a subsidiary of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).

According to EFCC sources, investigators have traced more than $56 million to accounts linked to Haske within the past three months alone. The embattled oil magnate, who allegedly breached his bail conditions and fled the country, has been declared wanted by the anti-graft agency.

The investigation has also put a spotlight on NNPCL’s Group Chief Executive Officer, Bayo Ojulari, who is alleged to have close ties with Haske. Civil society groups have accused Ojulari of awarding a ₦5.7 billion consultancy contract to Haske’s firm without due process.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Coalition of Nigerian Patriots for Good Governance described the deal as “broad daylight looting,” questioning how an obscure company with no proven industry track record secured such a massive contract. The group also criticized what it called reckless spending by NNPCL executives, citing both the controversial consultancy contract and a lavish management retreat in Kigali, Rwanda.

EFCC officials say the manhunt for Haske is part of an expanding probe into alleged corruption, fraudulent contracts, and financial impropriety involving the state-owned oil company.
