BREAKING: Tinubu Approves 50% Discount on NRC Train Fares for Eid-el-Kabir Travelers

Under the arrangement, passengers travelling on NRC routes across the country will pay half of the current approved ticket fares throughout the six-day period.

President Tinubu has approved 50%dDiscount on NRC Train fares for Eid-el-Kabir travelers.

 

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that President Bola Tinubu has approved a 50 percent reduction in fares for all passenger train services operated by the Nigerian Railway Corporation as part of measures to ease transportation costs during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

 

The fare discount will take effect from Tuesday, May 26, 2026, and remain valid until Monday, June 1, 2026.

 

Under the arrangement, passengers travelling on NRC routes across the country will pay half of the current approved ticket fares throughout the six-day period.

The initiative is aimed at providing relief for Nigerians travelling to celebrate the Eid-el-Kabir festival with family and loved ones amid rising transportation expenses.

 

The temporary fare reduction is also expected to encourage more citizens to utilise rail transport during the festive season while improving mobility across major routes nationwide.

 

The Nigerian Railway Corporation operates several passenger train services connecting major cities and states across the country, including Abuja-Kaduna, Lagos-Ibadan, and Warri-Itakpe routes.
