Reps Committee has declares PFIPC DG Adeniyi Adeyemi’s appointment letter as fake.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the House of Representatives ad hoc committee investigating the alleged operation of the controversial Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) has declared the appointment letter presented by the self-acclaimed Director-General of the council, Adeniyi Adeyemi, as fake.

The committee’s Chairman, Yusuf Gagdi, made the disclosure on Wednesday during the continuation of the investigative hearing in Abuja.

According to Gagdi, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, who appeared before the committee for the second time, confirmed that the documents submitted by Adeyemi were not authentic.

“It was established that the so-called letter of appointment was fake, confirmed by different agencies, and the Act presented to the Head of Service was equally fake, forged by the DG; it was established,” Gagdi stated.

The Head of the Civil Service appeared before the committee in compliance with its summons to make her final submissions on the matter.

Also present at the hearing were Deputy Commissioner of Police Olufemi Akinola and Assistant Commissioner of Police Bashir Abdullahi, representing the Inspector-General of Police.

As of the time of filing this report, Adeyemi had yet to appear before the committee despite earlier directives.

The latest development follows the committee’s resolution on Monday, when it described the establishment and operation of the purported PFIPC as a serious breach of due process and directed the Inspector-General of Police to produce Adeyemi within 48 hours.

The probe is expected to continue as lawmakers seek to establish the circumstances surrounding the controversial council and the authenticity of the documents used to support its operations.
