BREAKING: President Tinubu Launches New Personal Income Tax Calculator for Nigerians

“A fair tax system must never punish poverty or weigh down the most vulnerable. With the new tax laws I recently signed, taking effect from January 2026, we have lifted this burden and created a path of equity, fairness, and true redistribution in our economy,” Tinubu stated.

President Tinubu has launched new Personal Income Tax Calculator for Nigerians.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has unveiled a Personal Income Tax Calculator designed to help Nigerians evaluate how the newly signed tax reforms will impact them compared to the current system.

In a statement released on Thursday night, the President assured citizens that the new tax laws, which take effect from January 2026, are not meant to punish the poor but to promote fairness and equity in Nigeria’s revenue system.

“A fair tax system must never punish poverty or weigh down the most vulnerable. With the new tax laws I recently signed, taking effect from January 2026, we have lifted this burden and created a path of equity, fairness, and true redistribution in our economy,” Tinubu stated.

How the Calculator Works

The Personal Income Tax Calculator, available at https://fiscalreforms.ng/index.php/pit-calculator, allows Nigerians to compare their estimated tax payments under the new reforms with what they currently pay.

According to Tinubu, the tool is designed to demonstrate how the reforms:

  • Protect low-income earners

  • Ensure progressivity

  • Simplify compliance

  • Deliver transparency in taxation

Renewed Hope Agenda

Reiterating his administration’s vision under the Renewed Hope Agenda, the President urged Nigerians at home and abroad to take ownership of the nation’s development.

“Together, we are renewing hope in the Nigeria of our dreams. Take a bet on our country. Bet on Nigeria to work for you, your family, and your community,” he said.
