Fidelity Bank Expands ‘Give Her Power’ Initiative to Ikorodu, Empowers Women With Vocational Tools

Nwagboh noted that empowering women financially creates positive impacts across families, communities, and the wider Nigerian economy.

Fidelity Bank has expanded ‘Give Her Power’ initiative to Ikorodu and empowered women with vocational tools.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Fidelity Bank Plc has expanded its flagship women empowerment programme, “Give Her Power,” to Ikorodu, Lagos State, providing vocational tools and business support to more than 30 women across the community.

The outreach, which represents the third phase of the initiative’s nationwide rollout, saw beneficiaries from Ikorodu Central, Ikorodu West, and Ikorodu North Local Government Areas receive empowerment items including 12 sewing machines, 15 grinding machines, and other vocational tools aimed at improving household income and supporting small businesses.

Speaking during the empowerment event, Fidelity Bank’s Regional Bank Head, Victoria Island, Mr. Nnamdi Edekobi, who represented the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe, said the initiative was designed to provide practical and sustainable economic support for women.

According to him, the “Give Her Power” initiative goes beyond symbolic empowerment by equipping women with resources needed to build sustainable businesses, generate income, and create better opportunities for themselves and their families.

Also speaking, the Divisional Head, Brand and Communication at Fidelity Bank, Dr. Meksley Nwagboh, described the Ikorodu activation as a strategic grassroots intervention targeted at underserved women.

He disclosed that the initiative would be expanded to other regions across the South-East, South-South, and Northern Nigeria as part of the bank’s broader commitment to financial inclusion and women’s economic empowerment.

Nwagboh noted that empowering women financially creates positive impacts across families, communities, and the wider Nigerian economy.

The “Give Her Power” initiative was initially launched in Lagos through collaborations with organisations including LUSH Hair, Barbergirl Academy School of Barbering, Dee ‘n’ Ell the Shoe Architect, Inter-Bau Foundation, IVM Innoson, National Credit Guarantee Company (NCGC), and One Universe.

The programme operates under Fidelity Bank’s HerFidelity Apprenticeship Programme, which focuses on vocational training, mentorship, business support, and enterprise development opportunities for women.

Before the Ikorodu activation, the initiative had also been extended to Abeokuta, Ogun State, where 100 women received 50 sewing machines and 50 grinding machines during an empowerment programme held at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena.

The Ikorodu event attracted several government and community leaders, including Prince Adedayo Ladega, Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government; Hon. Sulaimon Kazeem Olanrewaju, Executive Chairman of Ikorodu West LCDA; and Hon. Benson Sunday Ayodele, Executive Chairman of Imota LCDA.

One of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Hassan Bukola from Ikorodu North LCDA, described the support as life-changing, stating that the sewing machine she received would help expand her business and improve support for her family.

With the latest rollout in Ikorodu, Fidelity Bank reaffirmed its commitment to scaling the “Give Her Power” initiative nationwide as part of efforts to promote women’s economic empowerment and sustainable community development in Nigeria.
